- Chick-fil-A Has Landed in Northern Ireland!
Chick-fil-A, the legendary US fast-food giant, has finally made its way across the Atlantic, setting up shop in Lisburn’s Applegreen service station on the M1 . And judging by the crowds that flocked to the grand opening, it looks like we’re all about to become seriously cluck-obsessed . If you’ve ever scrolled through foodie TikTok or envied those mouthwatering fried chicken sandwiches from across the pond , then you already know why this is big news . And now, for the first time ever, you won’t need a passport (or a very expensive flight to Atlanta) to get your hands on their iconic Original Chicken Sandwich . So, what’s the fuss all about? Let’s dig in! What’s on the Menu? Prepare your taste buds for a flavour explosion , because Chick-fil-A isn’t just about chicken—it’s about perfectly seasoned, hand-breaded, pressure-cooked-to-perfection chicken. Here’s what you can expect: The Star of the Show: The Original Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich This simple yet legendary sandwich features a juicy, crispy chicken breast tucked inside a soft, buttery bun with just two pickles (yes, just two—and somehow, it works ). Add a little Chick-fil-A sauce, and you’ve got pure magic. Hand-Breaded Nuggets Forget everything you thought you knew about nuggets. These bite-sized beauties are freshly prepared, golden-crispy, and dangerously addictive. Waffle Fries Regular fries? Too basic . Chick-fil-A’s waffle fries are crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and the perfect sidekick to your chicken feast. Signature Lemonade Freshly squeezed, tangy, and just the right amount of sweet—this lemonade is so iconic , it practically deserves its own fan club. More to Come? While the full UK menu hasn’t been revealed yet, fans are already hoping for Chick-fil-A’s other specialties to make an appearance—like the Spicy Chicken Deluxe , Mac & Cheese , and the famous breakfast menu (hello, Chicken Biscuit Sandwich!). The Grand Opening Despite the cold January morning , eager fans lined up outside Applegreen Lisburn to grab a bite. The buzz was undeniable , and the location is expected increased footfall over the next coming weeks. Where and When Can You Get Your Fix? The Lisburn Chick-fil-A is open Monday through Saturday, from 10am-10pm so if you’re craving a lunchtime treat or a late-night nugget fix, they’ve got you covered. But heads up! Chick-fil-A famously closes on Sundays , so plan accordingly to avoid a weekend heartbreak What’s Next? More Chick-fil-A for Ireland! Lisburn isn’t just a one-off—Chick-fil-A is planning to open more locations including a second Northern Ireland restaurant at Applegreen Templepatrick (M2) in March , and additional locations across the US as well as Ireland! For the latest updates, check out their official website: Chick-fil-A UK . If the first-day crowds and the excited social media posts are anything to go by, Chick-fil-A is already a hit in Northern Ireland. If you haven’t already made the pilgrimage, what are you waiting for? Hop in the car, hit the M1, and prepare for some serious finger-licking joy. And remember— always say yes to the waffle fries.

- Truly Last, Last-Minute Valentine’s Day Getaways in Ireland
So, Valentine’s Day is here, and you’ve got… nothing planned. No dinner reservations, no fancy gifts, and no grand romantic gestures. Don’t panic! Instead of scrambling for flowers at the petrol station, why not turn it into a spontaneous getaway? We’ve compiled the best getaways & activities with links and prices included, so that you can book, go, and save Valentine’s Day (and your relationship!). Ireland is full of romantic spots, and plenty of places still have last-minute availability if you know where to look. And look we did! We’ve got everything on offer for you, from seaside escapes, city breaks and countryside getaways, as well as daytrips and surprise adventures (hello, hot air balloon flight!). All prices are based on 2 people sharing across 2 nights, from February 13th to February 15th. 1. A Spontaneous Seaside Escape If there’s one thing Ireland does well, it’s the coast! Brisk sea breeze, a clifftop walk, and a cosy pub for a seafood dinner by the fire. Romantic, right? Even better—you don’t need to book weeks in advance. Where to Go: Dingle, Co. Kerry – Stroll the harbour, take a drive along Slea Head, and grab dinner at The Chart House. We recommend Greenmount House in Dingle which has been owned and run by the Curran family since 1977. The house is elevated, offering views of Dingle Bay. A 2 night stay for 2 is priced at €358 , including breakfast. Westport, Co. Mayo – Walk along the shores of Clew Bay, explore Achill Island, and warm up at Matt Molloy’s pub. We recommend the Wesport Plaza Hotel. This award-winning 4-star hotel offers king-sized beds and Italian marble bathrooms with spa baths in every luxurious room. There is a New York Italian inspired Bar and Restaurant, a health club, pool and spa. A 2 night stay for 2 is priced at €356 , including breakfast. Ballycotton, Co. Cork – Stay at the Garryvoe Hotel for luxury and sea views, or take the stunning Ballycotton Cliff Walk. We recommend the Garryvoe Hotel, situated directly overlooking the Ballycotton Bay. It offers luxurious bedrooms, a fine restaurant offering local seafood and a Health Club with a pool and outdoor hot tub. A 2 night stay for 2 is priced at €402 , including breakfast. How to Book Last-Minute: Check Airbnb , Booking.com , or hotel websites directly—many places drop their rates for same-day bookings! 2. The Ultimate City Break for Two If you’re more into city vibes than countryside escapes, why not whisk your partner away for a last-minute city break? Dublin, Galway, and Belfast all offer fantastic options for a romantic 24-hour getaway. Dublin What to Do : Visit the relics of St. Valentine at Whitefriar Street Church, stroll along the River Liffey, and book a last-minute spa treatment at The Marker Hotel. Where to Stay : The Dean (for stylish boutique vibes, priced at €438 for 2 nights) or Albany House (for classic luxury, priced at €310 for 2 nights). Galway What to Do : Walk along Salthill Promenade, explore the Latin Quarter, and grab oysters and champagne at The King’s Head Bistro. Where to Stay : The G Hotel (chic and romantic, priced at €621 for 2 nights) or The Eyre Square Hotel (historic charm right on Eyre Square, priced at €303 for 2 nights). Belfast What to Do : Visit Titanic Belfast, take a Black Cab Tour, and finish with a drink at The Merchant’s rooftop bar. Where to Stay : The Fitzwilliam Hotel (chic and luxurious with great food, priced at €491 for 2 nights) or Bullitt Hotel (modern comfort, just 1km from the Titanic Quarter, priced at €394 for 2 nights). 3. A Cosy Countryside Hideaway If you really want to impress, a last-minute retreat to the countryside is the way to go. Think rolling green hills, crackling fireplaces, and a slower pace of life—perfect for reconnecting with your other half. Top Picks: Castle Leslie Estate (Monaghan) – Stay in a real castle, take a horse-drawn carriage ride, and dine in their candlelit restaurant. Priced at €810 for a 2 night ‘Roses and Romance’ stay. Gregans Castle Hotel (Clare) – A luxurious country house hotel near the Burren, with stunning views and award-winning food. Priced at €630 for a 2 night Bed and Breakfast stay. Mount Juliet Estate (Kilkenny) – An elegant escape with stunning grounds, a world-class golf course, and a five-star spa. Priced at €595 for a 2 night stay, breakfast included. 4. A Last-Minute Adventure Together For couples who prefer action over relaxation, why not turn Valentine’s Day into an adventure? Ireland is full of unique experiences that don’t require months of planning. Ideas for an Unforgettable Valentine’s Adventure: Hot Air Balloon Ride (Meath/Kildare) – A sunrise flight over the Irish countryside? Talk about romantic! Prices start at €275 for a group flight. Kayaking at Dalkey Island (Dublin) – Paddle out to the island and spot seals along the way. Prices start at €78 for a guided kayak tour. Hiking the Wicklow Mountains – Follow the Spinc Trail in Glendalough and finish with a pint at The Wicklow Heather. This activity is free! 5. A Surprise Day Trip (No Passport Needed!) Can’t commit to an overnight stay? No problem—plan a surprise day trip instead! Ireland is packed with hidden gems, and quirky attractions that make for the perfect spontaneous Valentine’s adventure. Great Day Trip Options: Kilkenny – Walk through medieval streets, tour Kilkenny Castle, and grab lunch at Café La Coco. Carlingford – Hike Slieve Foye, explore King John’s Castle, and enjoy fresh seafood by the water. Lough Tay (Wicklow) – Known as the “Guinness Lake,” this spot is perfect for a picnic and ideal as part of a hike with a view. Want to make it extra special? Print out a little “mystery itinerary” and reveal each activity as the day goes on! Even if you’ve left Valentine’s planning to the last possible second, it’s never too late to create a romantic and memorable experience. So, go on—book that spontaneous getaway, grab your partner, and make this Valentine’s Day one to remember.
